Tofte Charters – General Information
 The boat Tofte Charters IICaptained by Darren Peck is a 27' 7" Baha Cruiser powered by an inboard 8.1 Mercruiser engine. |
 The boat Savanna LeeCaptained by Kelly Shepard is a 21 foot Bayliner Trophy powered by a Chevy engine. |
Both have hardtops, enclosed cabins and are equipped with the following:
- All required US Coast Guard safety equipment
- Cannon Electric Downriggers
- Humminbird or Lowrance Fish Locators
- GPS Navigation
- VHF Marine Radio (ship to shore)
- Cell Phone
- Planer Boards
- Speed and Temp gauges
We Also Provide:
- Shimano rods and reels
- All fishing tackle
- Free fish cleaning and packaging
- Freezer facilities if needed
Fishing Season
The Charter Season runs from May – early October. Lake Trout, King salmon and an occasional Steelhead are caught throughout
the season.
Coho salmon typically migrate through the Tofte area in late July and early August.
CPR – (Catch – Photo – Release)
On Tofte Charters we do promote CPR of all large Lake Trout. Releasing the big ones allows them to grow even larger, produce
thousands of eggs and allows us to catch them again. It takes a long time to grow a trophy size Lake Trout in Lake Superior's
infertile waters. We have caught tagged lake trout from 12lbs - 17lbs that were 26 - 29 years old. In my opinion smaller / younger
fish are much better eating.
